Parenst Fail because they are - Not Consistent
     These are the parents that are saved and trying to be Christ like in their walk.  The problem is that they are not walking this way everyday.  They are hit & miss with their faith.  One day they are out witnessing for the Lord & singing "I've got so much to thank Him for" or "I am blessed".  The next day they are giving the lady at McDonald's a fit because they forgot to put pickles on their Big Mac.  One day they are taking groceries to the needy family down the street that have nothing & the next day complaining because all they have is bologna.

Parents Fail because They Are - Not Christ like.
     While there are many parents that name the name of Christ, many of those same parents are missing a Christ like behavior.  As Christians, our lives are to be patterned after the Lord Jesus Christ.  He gave us the pattern to follow, we just need to follow it.
       Many times in the New Testament we see the word "conversation".  This word speaks of one's behavior or lifestyle.  In Ephesians 4:22 we read, "That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts;".  Before a man is saved, his life is filled with corruption on all levels.

Family of God

     I've always talked about how special it is to be part of a local church body.  God has allowed us as believers to be a part of the family of God.  We have been given brothers and sisters in Christ.  It matters not how small or separated of a home you're from, you can enjoy being part of a large & loving family.

     Recently, my wife's family faced a very disheartening tragedy.  As we still have some dark days ahead, I'm glad to know my Father knows the way through the storm.

Onward & Upward

     The old hymn says, "I'm pressing on the upward way.  New heights I'm gaining everyday.  Still praying as I’m onward bound, Lord plant my feet on higher ground.  Lord, lift me up and let me stand, By faith on Heaven’s tableland.  A higher plane than I have found, Lord plant my feet on higher ground."
     Our church theme for 2011 is "Onward & Upward".  In a day where people seem more lethargic spiritually than ever, I want to be striving to be more for God.

Why Some Parents Fail - Part 2

     In my last blog, I began talking about the reason why some parents fail.  I suggest that you read that blog if you didn't get a chance, so that you will get the whole picture of what I am trying to say.  Here is the first reason that I want to mention.
Parents Fail because they are - Not Converted
     One thing is for sure.  You will not get far in raising a child for the Lord if you don't know the Lord personally.  How are you going to teach a child about someone that you don't even know.  You may read a few books on the subject and even learn some Bible verses but if you are not a born again child of God, then you can't succeed in raising them for God.
